The Ickabog Illustration Competition is Launched

The search to find young illustrators for the book of The Ickabog is on! J.K. Rowling’s publishers, Hachette Children’s in the UK and Scholastic in the US, today launch an illustration competition for seven to twelve year olds, who are invited to send in their artwork via a parent or guardian to competition websites set up by the publishers.

Thirty-four lucky winners will find their drawings and paintings adorning the pages of The Ickabog book to be published later this year, along with winning other prizes. J.K. Rowling is setting the themes for illustration daily, to go with The Ickabog serialisation on this website, but the competition will be judged by special panels at each publisher; it won’t be judged by J.K. Rowling.

In addition children (or their parents or guardians if they are under thirteen) are encouraged to share artworks on social media using the hashtag #TheIckabog, where J.K. Rowling will be able to see them and might share and comment!

The official Illustration competition is today launched in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India, the USA and Canada, but will be extending to other countries very soon. For more information go to our Competition page here.
